Corrections and editorial standards
How Artificial Examiner corrects the record, marks updates, and handles a complaint.
Artificial Examiner is an independent newsroom. The product is the record. If we get a fact wrong, the fix is public. This page is the corrections policy and the short version of how we work.
Request a correction
Write contact@artificialexaminer.com with “Correction” in the subject line. Include the story URL, the passage, what is wrong, and the source that shows it. Documents that should not sit in a marketing inbox go to tips@artificialexaminer.com.
You do not need a publicist. You do need a specific claim. “This is unfair” is a letter. “The filing says $2.1 billion, not $21 billion” is a correction.
What we correct
- Names, titles, dates, places, and datelines.
- Numbers, prices, percentages, and what a contract or statute actually says.
- Misattributed quotes, or a quote that was never said.
- A photograph or caption that identifies the wrong person or event.
We do not “correct” an opinion because a subject disliked the argument. We will correct a column if it rests on a false fact. The Opinion label stays; the fact does not.
How a correction appears
A correction is appended to the story, in plain language: what we said, what is true, and when we changed it. The updated date in the byline and in the NewsArticle metadata moves with the file. We do not scrub the URL or pretend the first version never shipped.
An update is different. New information after publication — a later filing, a second lab comment, a price that moved — is marked as an update, not dressed up as if we had it on day one.
Unpublishing
We do not take stories down because they are inconvenient. We will consider unpublishing or heavily revising only for a legal demand, a serious safety risk, or a piece that should not have run (fabrication, a stolen identity, a child at risk). A note will say so if the page remains.
Independence, ads, and photos
Advertisements are labeled. Affiliate links are disclosed on the story and on the affiliate page. Neither is a correction channel: a vendor who wants a fact changed uses the same inbox as a reader.
Hero photographs are rights-cleared editorial pictures, credited on the page. A wrong caption is a correction. A rights complaint is a legal letter — send it to contact@artificialexaminer.com.
